Collaborations and Partnerships
Congruent with York’s White Paper, Building a More Engaged University, collaborations and partnerships are important cornerstones of the University – both in what it aims to achieve and how it does so. York’s partnership activities may be found across all Faculties and many administrative units. The University has an established history of outreach, service and community engaged research both in the surrounding Black Creek community and York Region. Globally, York may be found across the world and the University continues to expand its international relationships through new teaching and learning partnerships and research collaborations. Working closely with Faculties, the Office of the Vice-Provost Academic plays a key role in supporting the development of new academic initiatives with other partner colleges/universities in Ontario (e.g. college-to-university transfer, student mobility) and programs for internationally-educated professionals. The Office of the Vice-Provost Academic is also involved in several external committees aimed at supporting greater collaboration among postsecondary education institutions. These include, but are not limited to, the Ontario Council of Articulation and Transfer (ONCAT), Council of Educators Toronto and the Rewarding Community Engaged Scholarship Partnership.
Occasionally, the Office of the Vice Provost Academic will host events to inspire the discussion of ideas related to quality assurance, community engagement, and access. One such event was "Meaning Making in the Digital Age: Open access and the 21st century university" held on November 23rd, 2018.
